ARI...always reaching for independence

Respite Services

Respite Care is the temporary care of a person with a disability for the purpose of offering relief to the individual and their family.

Farifield County Community Foundation provides support to the respite program at ARI. In July 2010 we received $10,000 towards the program. Click here Press Release

Through this service ARI maintains a list of staff who are interested in providing respite care on their off hours. When a family member calls looking for this type of assistance they are asked to complete an application and then ARI provides them with the list of staff. From this point forward the family member contacts the individual and makes all the necessary arrangements, including hourly pay, days of works, expectations and any other necessary arrangements.

Last fall ARI received a grant from the Frederick H. Leonhardt Fund in the New York Community Trust for $6,000.00. The money has been distributed to approximately ten families to assist them with the cost of respite care. This grant has assisted individuals with opportunities to participate in recreation activities, social skills building and overall fun and relaxation.
