Recreation Services

Recreation Services encourages personal growth and builds relationships through involvement in a variety of social events, classes, and physical activities. 

Supported activities include the ARI Artists Initiative Classes, Aqua-Aerobics, Dinner Dances, Vacations, Bocce, Trips to Watch Local Sporting Events including the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Monthly Dinners, and much more.  Members of ARI participate in community recreational groups including Challenged People in Motion Golf, Darien YMCA Funbusters, Special Olympics (including swimming, snow shoeing, bowling, and track & field), and much more.   ARI also facilitates vacations including overnight stays at nearby destinations and week long vacations.

Aqua-Aerobics will continue on Wednesdays in April from 6:15-7:15pm at the Darien YMCA.  The class will exercise in the pool each Wednesday during the Fall/Winter months.  All attendees MUST register by contacting Gerard Gasparino at (203) 324-9258 ext. 3023 or email [email protected].

The ARI Artists’ Initiative Class will continue on Thursdays in April.  Participants will be able to work on their artwork.  Class will be open to all interested.  Contact Gerard Gasparino for more information.

 

***The Darien YMCA is beginning a swim program for individuals that would like to either learn how to swim or increase their swimming skills.  If you are interested in this program please contact Gerard Gasparino.

 ***Save the Date: The 18th Annual Walk for Independence will take place on Sunday, April 28th at Cove Island Park.
